Active Compassion Transforms (ACT) cordially invites you to our third and final Concert Series event that we started this fall. This Artist Showcase will be unique in bringing together two local artists while also celebrating ACT milestones to date and showcasing the organization.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Lindsay: Local New York City singer-songwriter Lindsay Phillips isn’t on the search for fame or fortune, but on a mission to use her music as a platform to make an impact in the world. Inspired by artists like John Mayer and Sufjan Stevens, Phillips’ music is a combination of honest, faith-driven lyrics and rhythmic, resonating guitar playing. With infectious guitar hooks reminiscent of an earlier career Tegan & Sara, and uplifting layer vocals like those of Eisley, Phillips’ music is both raw and relaxing at the same time. Her inspirational lyrics and passionate music set the perfect tone for conveying her message of social change. Lindsay’s music and tour dates can be found at:
www.lindsayphillipsmusic.com

Brian: Cali-native Brian Parker is musically eclectic. He describes his music to be an acoustic jumble of love and corniness that comes together as a stewpot of goodness. Learn more about Brian via his MySpace at:

They’ve received radio play in Australia and attention from Jive Records. Their single is being considered for Britney Spears next album. You’ve probably heard their track “Shake It Off” in last spring’s Victoria Secret BIO FIT ad.

They are Emme & The Swedes - a talented indie rock outfit that is playing for one night @ The Delancey to raise money for a non-profit benefiting South African high schoolers.

If you want to stay after the show, there are 2 more bands playing (Man Bird Lion @9pm and Dead Sextons @10pm).

Come for the beer, come to hang out or come to hear something different! Emme ends at 9 so work is no excuse.

Visit http://www.myspace.com/emmerocks for tunes.

Visit http://www.activecompassiontransforms.org to purchase tickets in advance starting Monday, Sept 21st.

Wednesday evening was the grade 12 class’ matric ball, which is equivalent to the prom and/or graduation in the U.S. Erika was the keynote speaker for the night and encouraged the students to persevere and finish school so they could “leave a legacy”. The rest of the team members were the waiters/waitresses for the night and served the students and faculty of the SOH. Pictured is the grade 12 graduating class with the principal, Laura Collura, and Erika. They are the participants in the interACT mentoring program this year and who we are raising funds for to bring them to NYC in December!soh-matric-ball-copy
